“I’ve been an apprentice at Groundwork for nine months and I’m studying a Level 3 Diploma in Fundraising Practice.
“So far, I’ve learned how to use customer relationship management systems, fundraising, event management, website management, how to build an alumni network and how to engage with them through social media.
“I think apprenticeships are a much better way of learning than sitting in a classroom. I learn more when I’m actually doing something instead of just studying from a book. I’m also able to get advice from the people I work with, which is something I wouldn’t be able to do from a course.
“Being able to earn while I learn is also great. I’ll get a recognised qualification when I complete my apprenticeship so this is good for me.”
Alexia Croft, aged 23, is a Fundraising Apprentice at Groundwork.
