As 2013 draws to a close I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support over the past year. Together, we have achieved great things.
It would be tempting just to focus on the big numbers – the thousands of projects we have delivered together, the trees you have helped us to plant or the vast acreages of land you have worked with us to improve…
These are all impressive, but it’s the human stories that have the greatest impact. Thanks to your support there are thousands of people across the UK who can now look forward to 2014 with great optimism. People like:
Gary – who has turned away from crime and is finding new opportunities in environmental work
Chloe – who is overcoming the challenges of a chaotic and challenging home life.
Michael – who now has a home he can afford to heat.
Next year will be a big year for Groundwork. We want to make good on our pledges to create or improve 1,000 green spaces, benefiting 1 million people, help 100,000 households out of fuel poverty and get 10,000 people into training or employment by 2015.
We will need your help to make that happen, and will be asking you to help spread the word about our work throughout the year so even more people join us in our mission to change places and change lives.
With best wishes for the festive season,
Sir Tony Hawkhead
