Tesco offers surplus food to community groups to help feed those in need

Tesco is inviting community groups and charities to collect surplus food from Tesco stores to help feed those in need and curb food waste.

The Community Food Connection programme, which is delivered in partnership with FareShare FoodCloud, ensures that local groups and charities are informed when food is available from Tesco stores so that no good food goes to waste.

The food that has been donated so far is enough to provide over 5 million meals to over 3,300 charities and community groups across the UK including homeless shelters, afterschool clubs and food banks.

Groundwork is currently working with Tesco on the 'Bags of Help' scheme that has helped to deliver more than £25million to over 3,000 community projects up and down the UK.
