Environmental Volunteering: Huntingdon Community Nursery

Huntingdonshire Community Plant and Tree Nursery is a 4.5 acre site with several special gardens, an orchard, nuttery, potager, cut flower garden, tree nursery and vegetable garden. As part of the Groundwork employee volunteering programme, a team of twelve Cambridge-based Skanska employees spent a day at the nursery, where they helped cultivate greenery and build a shelter for selling produce.

Accompanied by the nursery's resident Labrador, the group's eventful day saw them plant gladioli bulbs, mow grass, prepare vegetable patches and build butterfly habitats.

Skanska's Supply Chain Collaboration Manager said:

"The nursery is a fantastic place, run by great people. The work they do gives users a real sense of worth and achievement, so it was amazing to be part of such a fantastic day and help the nursery become that little bit more special."
