Crosby Scouts and Guides Marina Club getting Carriers for Causes grantCrosby Scout and Guide Marina Club is a charity run organisation that provides opportunities to the children of Sefton to sail and kayak.

The charity was awarded a Carriers for Causes grant that has allowed them to run a project to train three young leaders to level one kayaking coaches and develop existing volunteers, allowing the club to run more sessions and invest in the next generation of young kayakers.

The project aims to train volunteers to British canoe union standards, allowing them to gain qualifications that will significantly improve and enhance the skill set amongst instructors.

“Access to this training has helped me to develop my skills and allowed me to start my training to become a level one coach. Over the past few weeks I have started to learn new skills that I will need and I have been able to share my experiences with my peers and started to lead group sessions with the supervision of the coaches. I feel that having accessed the training I have gained more confidence and have really enjoyed learning. Thanks for allowing me to do the training courses.”

- Young Leader Beth, aged 16
