Our parks, playgrounds, allotments and other green spaces are a crucial part of the places we live in. Yet their future has never been more uncertain.

Just imagine what your neighbourhood would be like without them.

Right across the country councils are being forced to make difficult decisions as a result of huge budget reductions. Resources for green spaces are often the first to go.

Unfortunately, neglecting these places now will cost much more in the long run and cause problems that will last for years.

Averting a bleak grey future for our towns and cities isn't just down to councils. Communities, individuals, organisations and businesses all need to act now to save our patches of urban green.

Let's Make Tomorrow Different together.

The 2012 Games inspired millions and saw thousands of ordinary people do amazing things as volunteers.

This year we want to capture that spirit to mobilise a new kind of ‘Team GB’ with people and groups across the country achieving the best for them and their community. In every corner of the UK there are parks, play areas and green spaces that need your help.

That's why we're setting our own Olympic size challenge - to improve open spaces equivalent to 20 Olympic Parks by the time of the next Games in Rio.
