How to contact our team nationally and around the country
David Cameron has announced a national citizen service, which he and Michael Caine were at pains to point out was not a return to military service. Despite the negative association many (including Sir Michael apparently) have of national service it is promised that the two month voluntary programme will help build teamwork, skills and social action by charities, social enterprises and businesses. Whilst national service is not really the language of third sector organisations that work with young people, the intention doesn't seem too far away from that of many programmes; to build confidence and self-esteem, to get on with other people of different ages and backgrounds and develop life skills. Many projects also have an added element - to increase young people's employability. Groundwork has had some success with these schemes -like our Roots N Wings project in East London, for example.
