How to contact our team nationally and around the country
Our first stop is View Tube Grow, a haven of green surrounded by the bustle of the 2012 Olympic contruction site.
Groundwork London are working here, in partnership with The View Tube* and the London Wildlife Trust, to deliver View Tube Grow, a project funded by the profit from the 5p M&S charges for food carrier bags.
View Tube Grow is just one of around 80 Greener Living Spaces projects that are being delivered by Groundwork Trusts across the UK.
View Tube Grow will transform 631m2 of vacant land around the building into a community garden. The local community will be involved in a design consultation process between June and August 2010 and also in the creation of the garden. (You can see a draft of the design below)
On completion in November 2010, View Tube Grow will provide opportunities for local pupils and residents to come together to learn about and participate in food growing and nature conservation activities as well as encouraging improved health and well being and pro environmental perceptions and behaviour.
* The View Tube is a social enterprise and community venue located on the Greenway adjacent to the Olympic Park. It is a partnership project between Leaside Regeneration, London Thames Gateway Development Corporation, the Olympic Delivery Authority and Thames Water. The main building has been converted from old shipping containers into a café, arts, education and information spaces and a viewing platform over the Olympic Park and Stratford City and it provides an array of informal and formal learning opportunities for residents of all ages.
You can find out more about View Tube here http://www.theviewtube.co.uk/ but don't forget to get back in time to catch the virtual bus to see the transformation at out next stop.
