Jaye Connelly meets the Prime Minister

Young people working with Groundwork and the National Housing Federation's employment programme met with the Prime Minister today at Swalec Stadium Cricket Ground in Cardiff.  The men and women are all taking part in work placements provided through the Future Jobs Fund and, together with local sixth form students, were invited to put their questions to the Prime Minister in a live televised question and answer session.  Covered by BBC News and Sky News, the session lasted around half an hour, covering a variety of topics from setting up a small business to the  Prime Minister's predictions for world economic growth and vision for a low carbon economy.

After the debate, Jaye Connelly, 20, working with Groundwork Caerphilly had an opportunity to tell the Prime Minister about her experience:

"I was referred to Groundwork's Future Jobs Fund scheme by my JCP advisor after being made redundant from Woolworths.  I've gained a lot from taking part, and I've even managed to secure a full time job. I think it's very important for young people who haven't had a chance to develop their skills, to be given as much support to do so.  It will really help them in the future."

Katy Hollings, Executive Director of Groundwork Caerphilly, also met the Prime Minister:

"It was a great morning for all of us.  We were delighed when Gordon Brown said he was very impressed with the employability work that Groundwork does with young people."
