Community project

Groundwork works with community groups to make changes to local places across the country. Often where we work depends on funding and our capacity, but it is always worth contacting us to see what we can do in your area. Start by visiting the website of your local Groundwork Trust.

Community Spaces – funding green space projects

Marlborough Street Estate Green Roof Gardens

Location: Marlborough Street Estate, Central Leeds Residents of the Marlborough Street estate can now relax as well as get involved in food growing and gardening activities on their doorstep thanks to the development of two brand new garden areas on land once dominated by concrete paving slabs.

Youth Contract

Location: Bury and Bolton Groundwork Bury and Bolton are pleased to offer support for 16 and 17 year olds to help them get ‘back on track’. We offer a 52 week mentoring programme for 16 to 17 year olds who have not achieved any GCSE’s at grades A* to C.

Volunteer Project Assistant (VPA)

Location: Oldham and Rochdale Providing unemployed graduates with valuable new skills and real project management experience.

Community Action Team

Location: Oldham & Rochdale Volunteers complete a range of community based projects whilst gaining an accredited qualification.

Streets of Community Spirit

Location: Bury Streets of Community Spirit (SOCS) is a three year Big Lottery funded project identified through local consultations working with residents in eight streets across the borough of Bury.

Regents Park Estate Gardening

Location: Camden Groundwork London ran Camden Greening, a programme of gardening projects across six of Camden’s housing estates. On Regents Park Estate a neglected and disused space was transformed into a thriving community garden with 26 food growing spaces.

Dulux Let's Colour Campaign - Long Shop Museum

Location: Leiston As part of Dulux’s 'Let’s Colour' campaign we worked with local volunteers and an artist to create an exciting new mural in the Long Shop Museum’s courtyard garden in Leiston, Suffolk.

Tees Valley Community Games

Location: Tees Valley Through the Spots v Stripes campaign, 5400 people across the Tees Valley were able to take part in community games in their local area.

Amey Eco Action Volunteering Day

Location: Holywells Park, Ipswich Seven members of staff from some of Amey's regional offices gave a day of their time to help maintain and improve green spaces at Holywells Park, Ipswich in October 2012.
