Groundwork has a long track record of helping people who are out of work to gain new skills and find employment, in particular enabling those furthest removed from the labour market to build their confidence and prospects. Some of Groundwork's employability projects were also commended in the 2010 report 'Improving Young People's Lives: The role of the environment in building resilience, responsibility and employment chances ' by the Sustainable Development Commission. The report illustrates that by putting an emphasis on environmental work and green skills for young people, the Government would allow them to gain skills for a green economy while tackling youth unemployment and fostering civic responsibility.
