Safe & Sound

photo : youth“At school none of us would listen at all, it was just how we always behaved, but in the group we were doing interesting things, like making things that people would use, so it was all right to listen."

The work cost £50,000 but you can’t put a value on the improvement in the quality of our lives.”

Safe & Sound will help make people feel better about where they live and help change the fortunes of 25 neighbourhoods in the UK from Northumberland to Newquay and Belfast to Brixton.

It will provide new outdoor facilities in areas where they are lacking and will deliver them through a process that helps young and old understand and appreciate each other’s point of view.

People of all ages want to live in a safe, clean and green environment.  Safe & Sound will help young people and adults work together to turn derelict and dangerous eyesores in their neighbourhood into safe and secure places to be proud of.

By working together to plan, design and create memorial gardens and skateparks, nature reserves and playgrounds, people will be able to see their neighbourhood change before their eyes and gain the confidence and skills to bring about more changes in the future.
