Foundation Climate Fund for the North West in conjunction with Groundwork are working towards supporting local businesses and other organisations to make contributions to support community-based carbon reduction projects.
As part of the GM Workplace Challenge supported by Foundation through a £42,500 grant and CTC, employees of local businesses were challenged to compete with each other to clock up as many miles on their bike as possible between Jun 7 and June 27.
Employees were asked to log their details on the challenge’s website in order to compete for the top spot in the challenge, but also for the added incentive of prizes. Contestants overall logged 8,208 cycle trips, 79,003 miles cycled, burnt 10,246,974 Kj of energy, and saved 14,664 kilograms of CO2.
