Welfare to Work

Welfare to work banner

Our work is focused on motivating people and changing lives.  We have three decades of experience of helping people in poorer neighbourhoods gain the skills and experience they need to get into work.  Our long term presence in the places we work and ability to tailor our support means we can meet the needs of people who may be missed by other services.

We help a wide range of people - reaching out to young people before unemployment impacts on their future prospects, through to working with people who are the furthest removed from the labour market, and find the prospect of returning to work a daunting prospect.  Our support can include formal training and qualifications but it is just as often just as important to build a foundation of soft skills and confidence.

In 2009/2010 we:

  • Provided 51,000 weeks of training
  • Created 3,600 jobs
  • Supported people to gain 8,000 qualifications
  • Achieved 5,000 personal progressions into training, employment or volunteering

We are currently the Prime Contractor for the Department of Work & Pensions' Community Task Force in South West Wales and South Wales Valleys and, in partnership with the National Housing Federation, the largest national voluntary sector provider of the Future Jobs Fund.

  • Groundwork UK has been awarded a place on the Department of Work and Pensions' Employment Related Support Services Framework in both Wales and the South West of England.
