Young People Friendly Neighbourhoods

Image: young people campaigning in WestminsterGroundwork’s Young People Friendly Neighbourhoods programme encourages interaction between young people and adults by giving young people the skills and opportunity to make a positive contribution to their local communities. 

The programme, funded by the Big Lottery Fund, empowers young people to make their neighbourhoods better places to live by identifying and delivering environmental and social improvements.  They do this by undertaking audits, community consultations, devising action plans and organising profile-raising activities. 

The young people work in partnership with local agencies such as the Police, local authorities or housing associations thereby becoming more active in local decision-making and helping to create more cohesive communities.
