Geoff initially became involved with Groundwork as a Trustee of Groundwork Solent, prior to its merger into what became Groundwork South. He was subsequently co-opted to join the Groundwork Federation Board and has served as Chair of the Groundwork UK Committee since 2014.
Geoff joined Hampshire Fire & Rescue Service in August 2007, initially as their HR Director and in 2014 was appointed Director of Professional Services taking on responsibility for all support areas of the service. In 2015, he was elected to serve as a Director of the Cheif Fire Officers Association, Which at the time was the professional body representing UK Fire and Rescue Services. This has subsequently transformed into the National Fire Chiefs Council as part of the national Fire Transformation Agenda, on which he serves as the Chair of the Sector Improvement and Assurance Committee, as well as leading the national Fire and Rescue Research and Development Function. He previously held Director and Deputy Director posts covering HR and Corporate Services in the NHS and most recently within the senior Civil Service. He also serves as a Director of the Fire and Rescue Indemnity Company.
Before taking up a career in HR, Geoff was a commissioned officer within the Royal Air Force, completing operational tours both in the UK and overseas. Geoff holds a degree in law, is a fellow of the CIPD and completed a Masters degree in HR leadership in 2007.
