Kate is Chief Executive of Groundwork North East & Cumbria with over 25 years experience of working for Groundwork in the North East. During this time she has led on the development and management of major initiatives including the merger of five trusts in 2009; the build of a £4.5m eco-business centre in Co Durham and more recently the build of a £1.5m Heritage Centre / Cafe in Gateshead and the development and delivery of numerous EU and HLF funded partnership programme across the region.
Kate is involved in various boards to support the delivery of Groundwork delivery including three HLF Landscape Partnership boards; South Park Foundation in Darlington and is a director of the Northern Inclusion Consortium. She has recently been appointed onto the newly formed Newcastle Parks Trust as well as continuing with her role on the regional advisory board of Common Purpose.
In her spare time, Kate is a proud member of the Darlington Hospice Choir, singing her heart out whilst raising funds for the hospice. she is on the Darlington Community Carnival Committee which runs the annual carnival starring her cake stall! In addition to being a member of two local book clubs, swimming occasionally and walking her dog, Kate tries to spend time with her daughters who now live in London and Connecticut in America.
