Thank you for considering leaving us a gift in your Will. We appreciate you thinking about Groundwork in this way and supporting your local green space.
We know that your first priority when making a Will is to provide for your loved ones, but many people find that even after they've done this they can leave something to a cause they hold dear.
Leaving Groundwork a gift in your Will is one of the most valuable and lasting ways you can support us. It costs nothing during your lifetime but will have a powerful impact within your community for years to come.

Whether your local green space is a place to walk your dog, play with your children, take part in sport or simply get away from the stresses of city living, everyone can play a role in making sure that these benefits are maintained, particularly as councils have to make difficult decisions about which services to protect.
Leaving a gift of just 1% in your Will can make a real difference to green space in your local community.
Your gift will help us to develop local green spaces to build vibrant communities and change the lives of people like Irene. We were able to support Irene's dream for her and her neighbours by developing green space in their community.
There are different ways that you can leave a gift to Groundwork, depending on your circumstances.
A share of your estate (Residuary Legacy)
This is a share - or possibly even all - of the balance of your estate, once all other payments have been made (eg. lifetime debts, tax, administrative expenses and any pecuniary and specific legacies.) It will not lose its value over time and if you leave a proportion to us you can still ensure other beneficiaries are taken care of.
A fixed amount (Pecuniary Legacy)
You may prefer to leave us a fixed amount of money. It is worth noticing that the effects of inflation could mean that the true value of this gift could become less than you intended, unless you review your Will regularly or you link it with inflation. If you are considering a cash gift, please do consider inflation proofing the legacy.
A gifted item (Specific Legacy)
This would be a gift of a specific item - such as personal posessions, land, buildings or shares.

Many of us care deeply about the environment and strive for a lifestyle that minimises the strain that we place on the planet. It is natural that we would want this commitment to be reflected at funerals too. Choosing a greener coffin or a funeral package like Greener Goodbyes is a big step towards this aspiration.
Groundwork and JC Atkinson are working together to provide greener funerals and make a positive difference to the environment.
Follow these steps to help you plan your ideas and make the most out of your meeting with your solicitor.
