Skills Based Volunteering

Skanska employee

The support Groundwork provides to so many people and communities fits perfectly with our aspiration to make a difference wherever we work. Through our relationship with Groundwork our employees will have lots of opportunities to give something back to the local communities where we work.” - Skanska

Your workplace skills can create better places and lives

Volunteering isn’t just about wheelbarrows, paint brushes and spades. Often the most valuable skills your staff have to offer communities are the ones they use every day in their workplace.

IT professionals can help community groups work more efficiently, your communications specialists can help us to reach more people, your accountants can help communities to make the most of their resources and your managers can help young people to reach their potential.

See below for a list of opportunities that your business can get involved in throughout 2016:

Dragons' Den

Support Groundwork in delivering a youth project by hosting a Dragons' Den for young people to help them learn and build skills in business and enterprise.

Skanska recently supported Groundwork by delivering a Dragons' Den to young people at their office.

Opportunities to host a Dragons' Den are available across the Country.

Team Challenges

Help us solve a problem - can you bring business skills to one of our charitable enterprises?

Team challenges can help your staff to develop leadership, decision-making and negotiation skills. These challenges are an effective way to encourage fresh perspectives and inter-departmental cohesion, bringing together people from all levels. Challenges aid problem-solving skills, helping staff to develop as individuals, boost morale and improve retention.

Team Challenge opportunities are available across the Country.

Groundwork Ambassadors

Are you a senior leader or an emerging leader within your business? Could you volunteer your time and become an Ambassador for Groundwork?

Ambassadors will host and attend events for Groundwork locally or nationally, raising awareness of our cause to improve the lives and the places of the most deprived communities across the UK.

Groundwork will support you with your role by providing training and visits to our projects in the UK.

Groundwork Youth Ambassadors

Does your business have a regular intake of Graduates?

Sign up to our Youth Ambassador programme and we will support graduates through a tailored programme, enabling teams of young graduates to gain insight into how charities support local communities. Graduates on our programme bring back new skills and fresh ideas to the workplace, with successful graduates invited to join our Youth Ambassador Network.

Support our Youth Ambassador programme and help build social capital by increasing your attractiveness as a graduate recruiter and supporting your local community.

In Work Mentoring

Can you offer a work placement at your company?

Inspire a young person by providing them with a one week placement at your workplace. A work experience placement helps broaden horizons and introduce young people to the work environment.
