We are looking to recruit a Development Officer for an exciting project at Rivington Terraced Gardens.
Rivington Terraced Gardens were originally created for soap magnate Lord Leverhulme as a spectacular venue for him to relax in and entertain. Situated on the hillside below Rivington Pike, the Gardens were designed by noted landscape designer Thomas Mawson between 1905-1922.
The Gardens are an incredibly significant, culturally valuable piece of landscape. It is unique within the region, as a hillside garden of such scale, and it has national significance derived from its designer, Thomas Mawson.
Primary Purpose of the job:
- To support the delivery of the Activity Plan for the Rivington Terraced Gardens Heritage Lottery project, taking joint ownership of its goals and outcomes.
- To support the delivery of a diverse and accessible range of events and volunteering opportunities within the Gardens.
The post holder will have experience of working with local communities to deliver conservation or heritage activities and an ability to communicate and motivate local people and community groups. Experience of working in heritage sensitive locations will be advantageous. Experience of effective partnership working and the ability to manage a number of differing and complex activities within an overall project objective would also be advantageous.
