We are offering an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people to develop leadership skills and deliver social action projects in their communities.
At Groundwork we are dedicated to building the skills and knowledge that young people need to effect positive change in the places where they live.
We are looking for an experienced youth or community worker with a proven track record in engaging and inspiring young people, managing projects, building partnerships with local stakeholders, funders and employers.
As Groundwork’s Youth Social Action Project Officer you will recruit and engage groups of young people in local social action projects. You will develop and manage relationships with partners who will support delivery by adding value indirectly or directly in a subcontractor role.
You will monitor and manage outputs and outcomes, budgets and adherence to contracts ensuring key targets are met. You will develop initiatives across the city, bringing in partners and creating opportunities for young people to be involved in social action.
You will have had experience of working within a community youth work setting, working with hard to reach young people from deprived neighbourhoods. You will have the ability to motivate, inspire and positively progress hard to reach young people, forming trusting and positive relationships.
Groundwork's social action offer is focused on two new projects in Manchester:
1) #ManchesterYouthCan is a Sport England-funded project designed to engage young people in sports-related social action. A research piece, this project will see if young people can be motivated to overcome real and perceived barriers, learn skills related to social action and project delivery and create activities that will benefit not only themselves but the wider community. Delivered in conjunction with our partner Factory Youth Zone, we will engage over 400 young people from North Manchester over 2 years. This exciting project will be evaluated both locally and nationally to see if we can turn potential volunteers into actual volunteers.
2) Offsetting for Change is a Young Manchester-funded project. This project targets young people residing in Manchester and encourages them to take part in community-based social action projects of their own design. We are the lead partners in a consortium-funded project. We are expected to deliver four social action projects a year directly and support our partners to deliver their own cohorts too. This project brings together Groundwork's expertise in delivering environmental social action and our partner’s skill set of delivering youth work projects to a wide range of young people.
If you believe you can make a difference, we’d love to hear from you!
