The Green Leaders Programme is a free 12 week volunteer placement for young people starting in February. Sign up and you’ll have the opportunity to work on a number of projects in partnership with Wigan Council, the Environment Agency, West Lancashire Ranger Service and Lancashire Wildlife Trust, whilst you will also get the opportunity to gain a John Muir Award and an AQA Qualification.The placements are available for young people aged between 14 and 19. These are part time placements running up two days per week.
You’ll also play an important role in helping to plan and deliver environmental and community projects. These will range from restoring woodland and wetland habitats to reducing river pollution, to planning and delivering your own education campaign to help communities reduce their carbon emissions. Your placement will involve working across a range of greenspaces in Wigan and West Lancashire, engaging with local communities, Friends Groups, schools and youth groups. You’ll also receive free career advice and travel expenses.
