At the beginning of this academic year, we ran a project alongside Tarmac to teach students about quarrying.
We held two classroom sessions to teach what quarrying is, the importance of it and how it impacts communities and environments.
Then, alongside Tarmac they visited an active quarry site, to see first-hand how it works. Secondly, they had a visit to a restored site to see how the site changes once it is no longer used and what habitats exist there.
We received some lovely (and honest!) handwritten letters of thanks from the pupils, which we thought we'd share with you:
