The Suffolk Carbon Charter is an award recognising carbon reduction measures in Suffolk’s small and medium businesses.
The Carbon charter is designed to be both meaningful and attainable for any business. Whether you're just starting out, or want to get formal recognition for your green achievements, this Charter will give you local recognition in a way your customers can understand. There are currently over 280 charter members in Suffolk.
The Suffolk Carbon Charter consists of 3 levels: Bronze, Silver and Gold. Businesses applying for the Charter complete an application form. Following an audit process, they are informed of the results and provided with information on how they can reduce their energy use further. The minimum requirement is an audit of energy use, adoption of a carbon reduction policy and a clear reduction target.
The accreditation was designed by Groundwork Suffolk as part of the ANSWER Project, with the support of ERDF through the Interreg IVB North Sea Region Programme. The Charter is administered by Groundwork and overseen by the Environment Agency and Suffolk County Council on behalf of the Suffolk Climate Change Partnership.
The full cost of a Charter Assessment is £550+VAT, which covers the costs of an onsite audit and helps to meet the accreditation requirements, through to the assessment and accreditation process. Subsidies are available - get in touch to find out more.
