The Big Tree Plant is now closed to new applicants.
The Big Tree Plant was a national campaign to encourage people and communities to increase the number of trees planted in towns, cities and neighbourhoods throughout England.
It was launched in December 2010, as a partnership between national organisations and community groups, working with Defra and the Forestry Commission to support the protection and enhancement of local green spaces, particularly in areas of deprivation and low tree cover.
The programme was supported by a Forestry Commission funding scheme, administered through Groundwork London, giving up to £4 million in grants (2011 to 2015) to help pay for the planting of at least one million new trees in urban areas.
