Blue Sky North is a grounds maintenance and landscaping social enterprise with a difference – we only employ ex-offenders. By offering real jobs with an established company, we aim to break the cycle of re-offending and challenge perceptions about ex-offenders.
We provide a competitive and high quality grounds maintenance and landscape construction service that includes grass cutting, fencing, hard and soft landscaping, site clearances and external painting. Through our approach, both as a main contractor and within supply chains we provide excellent ‘social return on investment’ for our customers. Of our leavers 47% move into permanent employment and only 15% have re-offended – this is one quarter of the national average.
We’re the northern partner of Blue Sky Development & Regeneration – the nationally acclaimed ex-offender led social enterprise. In the North we specialise in delivery of grounds maintenance, fencing and landscape construction projects. Our key clients are The Environment Agency, The Forestry Commission, Manchester City Council and a number of housing providers. Our teams are led by a skilled supervisor in a ratio that is usually no more than 1:5.
Why use Blue Sky?We employ exclusively from the local area, bringing work to local people. We also provide each employee with training specific to the contract requirements. We provide a high quality competitive service while changing lives.
Local authorities and politicians share our view that the current high re-offending and low employment rates amongst ex-offenders are a criminal waste of money. By commissioning Blue Sky, you can be part of the solution.
“The Forestry Commission is very pleased with the standard of work Blue Sky has been undertaking for us. They have impressed us with their quality of management, and with the professionalism and enthusiasm of the people employed by the project”
Richard Topley, Project Manager, Forestry Commission North
