Community Training Grants: ESFA

Applications are now open for ESFA Community Training Grants

About ESFA Community Training Grants

The Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) and the European Social Fund (ESF) are funding Groundwork London and Groundwork South to award Community Training Grants. The focus of these grants will be to fund projects which support individuals who are either unemployed or economically inactive.

Successful applicants are expected to be able to help move individuals either into employment, or establish a route towards employment, by helping individuals through education and training opportunities, advice, guidance and information.

Operation Areas

We will be administering and implementing Community Training Grants within four Local Enterprise Partnership* (LEP) areas.

  • Swindon and Wiltshire LEP
    Including the following Local Authorities: Swindon, Wiltshire.

  • Thames Valley Berkshire LEP
    Including the following Local Authorities: West Berkshire, Reading, Bracknell, Wokingham, Slough, Windsor and Maidenhead

  • Dorset LEP
    Including the following Local Authorities: Dorset, Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch 

  • London North and East LEP
    Including the following Local Authorities: Barking & Dagenham, Bexley, Bromley, Enfield, Greenwich, Havering, Newham, Redbridge, Waltham Forest

*LEPs are voluntary partnerships between local authorities and businesses, set up to help determine local economic priorities and lead economic growth and job creation within the local area.

How to apply

Third sector and small organisations can apply for grants between £5,000 and £20,000. Applicants must be from either third sector organisations or small organisations (less than 49 employees, and must also have an annual turnover of less than €10 million Euros, please see link to currency convertor).

If you wish to apply for funding, and have a project based in one of the mentioned location areas, then please select your Operation Area below to be taken through the application process.

The deadline for your application to be considered in our second round of decision meetings is 9am, 12th August 2019. 

For additional support, if you are able to submit your application by 9am 5th August, we are able to review and alert you to any large omissions, which you can then resolve prior to the deadline above.

Please note we are expecting competition to increase as the programme continues, so we recommend applying as soon as possible.

The European Social Fund (ESF) invests in opportunities across the European Union, with a focus on improving employment and education.

ESFA and ESF are co-financing Community Training Grants to offer skills, training and employment opportunities for individuals who are unemployed or out of education. 

Groundwork London delivers this programme which is funded by the European Union Social Fund and the Education and Skills Funding Agency
