Groundwork was established more than three decades ago in Liverpool as a radical experiment to bring together communities, businesses and government. The main aim was to improve the quality of life in communities that had been neglected and to promote their sustainable development.
From our roots and successes in Liverpool, Groundwork quickly grew and the organisation began working across whole of England, including the south of England, where we have been running huge range of projects for the past 25 years.
Groundwork South, as it is now known, was created in 2012 and is made up of six area teams who work in communities from Kent to Cornwall.
Our work with communities is underpinned by our Mission to make the South of England a greener and more prosperous place for people and communities.
