Community Engagement

Throughout the project we regularly engaged with residents on all three estates to discuss the project with them and encourage them the to feed into the design process.

This process involved a community mapping exercise, where residents identified underused green space and identified issues on their estate including surface water flooding. After the designs were finalised, we continued to engage residents through a sustainability champions training programme and home visits from Groundwork's 'Green Doctors' who provide free home energy advice to help residents become more energy efficient in the home and save money on their energy bills.

You can read about the community engagement work that was undertaken across all three estates in our case study.

Our interim SROI (social return on investment) results from Queen Caroline Estate & Richard Knight House showed that 81% of residents agree or strongly agree that the project has improved the quality of the public space on their estate and 65% agree or strongly agree that the neighbourhood is a better place to live following the project.
