Physical Activity

Not everyone likes sport. Are you one of those people who would run a mile rather than go into a gym? One of Groundwork's physical activity projects may be for you.

They aim to provide opportunities for all people to get fitter by taking part in exercise sessions in everyday non-sporty places such as libraries, community centres and country parks.

Our Physical Activity menu includes:

Active Neighbourhoods - health and wellbeing advice and practical activity sessions in non sporting community venues

Active Families – healthy weight programme for children and their families including health skills and physical activity

Urban Explorers - encouraging children and families have fun in local parks and playing outdoors to encourage physical activity

Silverdale Volunteers - “green gym” volunteering linked to maintenance of a country park in Stoke-on-Trent.

Benefits:

We aim to prevent obesity, improve mental well being and build physical and mental resilience to adversity by encouraging active and participative communities.
