SEGRO Greener Communities
Groundwork is working alongside SEGRO to deliver Greener Communities – a programme of green space improvement projects that will increase biodiversity, support community cohesion and offer skills and training opportunities at local projects across England.
The initiative will build upon the first two years of the partnership and aims to deliver multiple outcomes for the environment, communities – contributing to SEGRO’s Investing in Local Communities and Environments strategy, via activity that will:
- Improve the quality of green spaces close to SEGRO-managed properties, increasing biodiversity and delivering wellbeing benefits to the community
- Engage local communities, including through open days, events or volunteering activities
- Support people to develop skills and move closer to the labour market via a ‘Green Team’, made up of unemployed or economically disadvantaged people, who will engage in project delivery and training, learning new skills and developing the confidence to move closer to the labour market.
