About Right to Thrive

We’re working with Thrive LDN to offer grants of up to £10,000, supporting projects which aim to ensure that all Londoners have an equal opportunity to good mental health and wellbeing.

Research from Thrive LDN has shown that individuals and communities with multiple backgrounds, particularly minority groups, are more likely to experience unfair treatment which negatively impacts their mental health and wellbeing.  The Right to Thrive grant scheme aims to make additional support available to communities and groups in London who are particularly vulnerable to experiencing poor mental health.

Working alongside Thrive LDN, the Mayor of London and London Health Board partners, we aim to support intersectional and marginalised communities, many of whom are experiencing higher levels of discrimination or social isolation, to develop projects and activities which address these challenges and support their mental health and wellbeing.

What funding is available?

We will offer three tiers of grants up to £10,000:

  • Tier 1 – Between £500 to £2,000
  • Tier 2 – Between £2,001 to £6,000
  • Tier 3 – Between £6,001 to £10,000
Who can apply?

Proposed projects should seek to improve the wellbeing of people from intersectional and marginalised communities in London. This may be through activities that raise awareness of challenges, through activities that address a specific challenge, or activities that have been demonstrated to support wellbeing, for example volunteering, sports, accessing green space, or increasing cultural activities.

Projects can be delivered either at a citywide, multiple London borough or individual London borough level.

Marginalised communities are people who, for various reasons, are denied involvement in mainstream economic, political, cultural and social activities.

Intersectional communities are people who are often disadvantaged (or privileged) by multiple backgrounds and/or identities, for example race, age, class, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion and other identity markers. Intersectional communities who are especially vulnerable to be the subject of prejudice in London are: Black LGBTQ+, Asian LGBTQ+, the Latin community, Gypsy, Roma and Traveller community, refugees and asylum seekers, and transgender people.
