Covid19 – Impact on Groundwork Greater Manchester’s local services & projects

Due to Government restrictions in place, a number of Groundwork Greater Manchester’s services and projects are currently suspended.

As such, a significant proportion of our team are in short term furlough from 1st April 2020; allowing us to protect jobs and to delay project work for a future date.

Details of each project or service area is listed below; we will strive to keep this up to date as changes develop.

SERVICES

Groundwork Fencing & Landscaping Services

All work suspended until further notice.

Landscape maintenance programmes in Oldham & Rochdale continue as normal, contact Adam Holt for any queries.


Sustainable Business Services

Continues to operate with a limited resource, working safely from home.

Landscape Architecture

Service suspended until further notice – all existing clients should have been updated.

PROJECTS

Operation RE:Org: Support for Tameside Veterans

Advice, guidance and support for veterans will continue through phone and internet based support, in particular support provided in relation to accessing other services for veterans, information concerning new job opportunities and assistance with applications plus volunteering opportunities associated with Covid-19 locally and support with health and wellbeing.

Care To Work

Suspended until further notice.

Care leavers can continue to receive support through their personal adviser within local authority leaving care teams.


Roots to Wellbeing

All training provision in Tameside suspended until further notice.

Brinnington Big Local

Support continues to be provided remotely, however local services are suspended.

Prince’s Trust

All of our training team bases and offices are now closed and all face-to-face training provision has been replaced with telephone and online support where possible.

Due to the current situation there will be fewer staff working and available to support young people whilst we put a longer-term solution in place.

Irwell Catchment Partnership 

Ongoing partnership work continues as staff working as usual, although remotely.

Face to face engagement with farmers (including upcoming workshops) postponed until further notice.

Skills Support for Growth and Youth Traineeships

All of our training team bases and offices are now closed and all face-to-face training provision has been replaced with telephone and online support where possible.

Due to the current situation there will be fewer staff working and available to support young people whilst we put a longer-term solution in place.

Construction Training

All of our training team bases and offices are now closed and all face-to-face training provision has been replaced with telephone and online support where possible.

Energyworks

The Team continue to work safely from home, they can offer support to those with high risk or self-isolating with support for their energy bills, how to adapt behaviour to save energy in the home and switching energy providers together with providing signposting to local up to date support services.

Homes

The team continue to work safely from home,

Managing agents are providing emergency repairs only at this time.

Protecting Playgrounds

All hedges now in place and monitoring complete – awaiting scientific research results.

School workshops cancelled until further notice.


Achievement Coaching

Coaching and mentoring support continues although remotely.

Young people require ongoing support through this difficult period especially as face-to face services are reduced therefore we are still taking referrals.

Oldham Social Action Fund, Turning Point, Bolton Get Connected & Active Alliance

We are currently delivering some of these services in a different way, whilst other services have had to be put on hold for now.
