Denehurst House Renovation
Duration: TBC
Background
Groundwork has been delivering a Housing Refurbishment programme for over 12 years; helping young people gain entry level construction jobs whilst simultaneously retrofitting properties back into use.
Groundwork are working with Rochdale Borough Council and H Bells & Sons on the development of Denehurst House in Rochdale. This Victorian manor house was built between 1893 and 1909 and was donated to the town in 1932, most recently it was used as council offices however the new development works aspire to transform the building into 5 self contained flats, café, community room and mess facility for the park rangers.
The renovation seeks to create homes for local armed forces veterans in-line with Groundwork’s and the council’s Armed Forces Community Covenant commitments, which encourages the integration of armed forces personnel back into civilian life.

What we’re doing

As well as overseeing the renovation, we will be working with H Bell and Sons to provide training for up to 12 local people on the site, an essential feature in a five-week programme aimed at people wishing to pursue a career in construction.
Anyone interested in taking up the opportunity should email: employmentreferrals@groundwork.org.uk
