Eco Streets Oldham
Duration: June 2025
Background
Thanks to funding from the UK Government Shared Prosperity Fund we’re working with Oldham Council to enhance two streets in Oldham town centre and deliver a programme of events which highlight the benefits of urban nature.
Creating Eco Streets in the heart of Oldham
Our landscape architects will be developing creative ideas to transform Union Street and Yorkshire Street in Oldham town centre into Eco Streets!
Eco Streets are the future of urban greening, putting nature-based-solutions at the heart of designs so we can create green cities that are more resilient to the effects of climate change, helping reduce flood risk, keep spaces cool in the summer and provide essential stepping stones for nature.
We’ll be engaging the local community with the designs, showcasing various nature-based-solutions such as:
- Living walls
- Green roofs
- Rain gardens
Public events & activities
Our team will engage local people and encourage increased use of town centre by running a range of activities which highlight the benefits of urban nature, engage people with nature and encourages environmental social action across the borough.
During events our team will seek to discover residents views and opinions on our designs for Union Street and Yorkshire Street.
COMING SOON
Most of our activities will take place from our Green Hub on XXXX Street, a unique shipping container complete with it’s own nature-based-solutions (a living wall and green roof!) along with comfy chairs and tables where you can come have a chat with our team.
