Bengeo Primary school benefitted from John Laing Charitable Trust funding that they used alongside their own funding to improve their school grounds.
The project began in October 2018 when, following an initial meeting and discussion with school representatives, the school was provided with detailed designs and costings.
Following a consultation period involving staff, students and parents, small changes and additions were made to the design. The work was delivered by Groundwork’s in house implementation team in the spring and comprised of new access to the area, a polytunnel, teaching area, fruit trees, sitting circle.
Groundwork continued to monitor the establishment of the meadow area over the summer and undertook some necessary remedial work to ensure a good sward developed.
Total cost of works to the school, approximately £24,000.
