The Housing Estates Improvement Programme

The Housing Estates Improvement Programme is a scheme where local residents apply for funding to improve the outside areas of their estate. Registered Tenants’ and Residents’ Associations and other community groups can apply for grants. If you don’t have a registered group on your estate, your housing officer can apply on your behalf.

The scheme is run by Groundwork London, who will consult on, design and implement the improvements. The scheme is funded by Hammersmith & Fulham Council.

What kind of projects can get funding?

You can apply for the following kinds of projects:

  • Landscape improvements (gardens, seating areas, planting, fencing, art features)
  • Safety and security (railings, improving visibility)
  • Play areas and ball courts.

Projects must be located on estates owned by Hammersmith & Fulham Council. You will also need to show that your project has the support of the local community.

Unfortunately we cannot fund CCTV, entry phone systems, lighting work or internal improvements to buildings or private gardens.

How much are the grants for?

You don’t need to ask for a specific amount – a grant will be awarded by the judging panel that reflects the project need within the allocated overall budget. If additional funds are required to deliver the improvements, we will seek top up funds from external funders.
