North Blackpool Pond Trail

A heron on the lake

The Blackpool Conservation Team works on the North Blackpool Pond Trail making it better for wildlife and providing great places for local people to visit.

Our Impact

The team makes improvements to thousands of square meters of green spaces each year.  Making them more accessible means that they can be enjoyed by more people. Volunteers say that being part of the team is very rewarding and that it’s great to see the instant improvement to the area.

Individuals or groups can join us. You will learn about the special wildlife we have in Blackpool and how we are making a big difference.

Get Involved

The Team is a partnership between Blackpool Council and Groundwork. We’re always for new people to join the team and get involved. It’s great fun, healthy activity and you’ll learn lots.

The work is outdoors and mainly conservation and maintenance of some wonderful wildlife areas. Tasks could be woodland management, which includes cutting back shrub and trees and learning the skills of make a deadhedge. We put in new benches, fences and waymarker posts too. You may even get the chance to do an ecological survey, whether it is a pond survey for insect life or flora and birds. We also carry out lots of pond management, so bring your wellies as you might get wet. We also plant trees, bulbs and flower plugs and seeds.
