Green Skills Training

Are you aged 18-64 and looking to gain new skills, whilst building your confidence in a supportive environment? Does working in the outdoors and gardening appeal as a possible career option?

Green Skills for Green Spaces supports participants through a free training course, giving hands-on experience in horticulture and conservation.

The training is free and open to adults aged 18 to 64 who live in the Torbay area and are currently unemployed and looking to return to work.

Our Green Skills training consists of short taster sessions to give you an introduction to gardening, including ‘enjoy gardening’, grow your own vegetables, tool use and care, and plant identification. Following these taster sessions participants have the option to continue on a free course to gain a Level 1 City and Guilds qualification in horticulture, (delivered part-time over eight weeks).

All participants are provided with support into volunteering or work placement opportunities in green spaces settings across Torbay, helping gain experience, build confidence and develop skills. We also work with you to find paid roles in horticulture, gardening or the green spaces/parks sector, should you feel ready to return to work, or connect with local colleges and education providers if you chose to continue your training.

Next courses start: 2nd September and 1st October 2020
Please note: group sizes are limited to 6-8 so please book your place as soon as possible.
