When James* first met his Progress Coach, Nikki, he was unhappy and felt that his life lacked purpose. Since joining Progress, he has enrolled on a college course to study Employability Skills and is seeing a much brighter future.
"Progress has helped me to change my life for the better. I feel much happier and it’s great that I have a reason to get up in the morning and have places to go and people to see.
"I’ve been doing a lot more exercise which has been really good for both my physical and mental wellbeing. I’ve also been making my own sandwiches for lunch, instead of spending all my money on convenience food. I’m definitely more aware of my own finances and why I need to budget.
"I now feel like I play a more active role in life. I’m a Team Leader in my class at college and it makes me feel good to help others, as it’s usually me asking for help.
"I’ve discovered that I don’t dwell on issues as much as a I used to – I definitely have more up times than I do down time. I’m now able to look for solutions to problems and talk about them so I can deal with them in the right way.
"Not doing anything was making me ill and feeling down all the time. it was only after coming to see Nikki and talking that made me think I had to do something – and she’s helped me to see a much brighter future."
