Area Programme Manager

OPERATIONAL AREA:  East & West Sussex with potential expansion into Kent
LOCATION:  Hastings County Council Offices, Discovery Centre, Combe Valley Countryside Park
REF:  SS09

At community charity, Groundwork South, we are changing places, changing lives across the South of England, one green step at a time.

Are you a creative and effective Manager, equally adept at business development as you are at overseeing the successful delivery of a range of innovative, inclusive and exciting community programmes? Do you share a passion for high quality public open spaces, the environment and making a genuine difference to people’s lives? If so, we’d love you to join the team at Groundwork South, and help us shape and support the regeneration of Hastings and its surrounding areas.

Realising the potential of two significant countryside parks will be one of your primary focuses in this role; but your partnership development skills and support from the wider fundraising and development team at Groundwork will see you identifying opportunities to replicate successful Groundwork services in the area, innovating with partners to find new solutions that help tackle any environmental, social or economic challenges that stand in our way.

You’ll have experience in developing, driving forward and delivering community engagement projects, helping stakeholders with place-shaping and be quick to spot opportunities for added value.  The ability to motivate and inspire your team to deliver outstanding work will be crucial in this role.  An experienced leader and enthusiastic team player, you will have excellent written and verbal skills that will enable you to ensure high standards of communication to a range of audiences. You will be experienced in planning projects, financial and contract management and monitoring the effective deployment of your resources.

Join us and help shape the future of one of the UK’s leading environmental regeneration charities.

In return we offer:

  • 25 days per annum plus English Bank Holidays
  • A contributory pension scheme
  • Scope to continuing development of your professional skills

Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle for which you will need to be insured for business use. Employees are able to claim back mileage rates as per our Expenses Policy.
