Communications & PR Officer

Location:       Flexible working across Groundwork London offices in Waterloo, Hackney & Islington (from home during COVID-19 social distancing measures) 

Contract:       Fixed-Term Contract

Salary:            £23,000 – £25,000 

Hours:            37.5 hours per week


Not-for-profit organisation Groundwork London are looking for a passionate, creative communicator with public relations experience to join our Marketing and Communications team.

Our vision at Groundwork London is of a society of sustainable communities that are vibrant, healthy, and safe, which respect the environment, and allow individuals and enterprises to prosper. In pursuit of this, each year we deliver hundreds of innovative environmental and social action projects across the capital, working with communities to make their neighbourhoods greener and more resilient to climate change, supporting long-term unemployed individuals to find work, helping young people get back into education and training, and advising residents how to save money on their energy and water needs.

As Communications & PR Officer in the Marketing and Communications team, you will be an ambassador for, and guardian of, the Groundwork London brand. You will work closely with project delivery teams to plan and implement communications strategies across multiple channels in order to promote and increase engagement with our projects and services, and will be responsible for the creation of high-quality, creative communications that deliver against these strategic priorities. A key focus of this role will be in the media relations and press office function of the Trust; you will work with the Senior Communications Officer to secure consistent, on-message coverage for Groundwork London in local, regional, and trade press.

Please contact us if you have:

  • Experience in writing and implementing communications plans for projects or campaigns
  • The ability to communicate compelling stories and key messages to specific target audiences through a variety of mediums, including effective and engaging copywriting
  • Experience developing and maintaining media relations to secure positive media coverage
  • Experience creating and implementing effective PR strategies and campaigns
  • Knowledge of basic-intermediate graphic design principles and experience applying these to produce content for digital and print mediums
  • Experience organising and delivering high-profile events
  • The ability to work as part of a busy, high performing team
