Role: Lead Cook 

Salary: £17784 per annum.

Hours: 37.5 hrs/week, full-time,

Contract: permanent contract 

Woodlands Outdoor Education Centre, is part of Oxfordshire Outdoors, managed by Groundwork South Trust Limited.  We provide high quality residential and outdoor education courses for schools. This is mainly term time working with some occasional non term time and weekend work. The centre is highly regarded by all of our visitors many of whom come back year after year.  You would be joining a friendly team of staff who enjoy the positive impact we have on the young people that visit us.

We also require a full time Lead Cook to join our team to work mainly Monday to Friday, responsible for catering including menu planning and food orders, providing evening meals and lunches.

MAIN DUTIES INCLUDE: 

  • To design and implement menus appropriate to the group in residence, ensuring all specific dietary needs are met
  • To ensure meals prepared for school aged groups meet with the relevant nutritional standards
  • To manage the preparation; cooking and serving of meals, ensuring high quality performance is achieved
  • To wash up and clear away following meal serving
  • To ensure catering budgets are adhered to
  • To ensure efficient and appropriate stock control is in place
  • To ensure that appropriate best practice standards of food hygiene; record keeping and health and safety are maintained
  • To ensure highest possible rating of environmental health inspection (or other appropriate inspection)
  • To work with Service colleagues to promote Healthy Living to Service users
  • To ensure the kitchen, servery and dining rooms meet with handover standards and requirements
  • To inform line management of any defects in equipment; premises or of issues not meeting health and safety legislation and food hygiene regulation requirements
