Groundwork aims to be the UK’s leading regeneration charity, working through partnership to create communities in which people are proud to live and work.

Moving On Tyne & Wear (MOTW) is joint-funded by The National Lottery Community Fund and European Social Fund, and aims to support people with a range of complex needs across Tyne and Wear to move towards or into training and employment.

This project is led by Mental Health Concern (MHC) and supported by 8 partner organisations, including Groundwork NE & Cumbria.

About the role

We are looking for a creative, enthusiastic individual to join our Moving On Tyne & Wear team as a Navigator.

The successful candidate will work as part of a team and will manage a caseload of Moving on Tyne and Wear participants in Sunderland providing them with 1:1 support, helping them overcome health barriers to employment and training.

The post holder will help participants to accept, adjust to and when able recover from physical and/or mental health conditions. They will be responsible for supporting them through every stage of their journey, addressing barriers to engagement and introducing activities to support progression into education and employment.

As a Navigator you would be responsible for supporting participants through every stage in their journey, addressing barriers and introducing activities to support progression.

Appointment to this post is subject to an enhanced disclosure endorsed by the Disclosure and Barring Service.

About you

We are seeking someone with experience in supporting people with health problems to access mainstream activities and resources which will help them to better manage their conditions and move towards or into employment. You must have the ability to work effectively as a member of a team as well as the ability to work on your own initiative. Having experience of working in communities and engaging workless participants is essential whilst maintaining a professional, tactful and patient approach.
