The WEEE project sits within a wider programme of waste awareness and recycling initiatives delivered by Groundwork and the South Tyne and Wear Waste Management Partnership.

About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a WEEE Electrician. Working in partnership with the South Tyne and Wear Waste Management Partnership (STWWMP), as a member of Groundwork’s Land and Communities Team, the Electrician will engage with the communities of Gateshead, Sunderland and South Tyneside to encourage the reduction, repair and re-use of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) and batteries. Operating alongside an experienced Project Lead, the Electrician will support the development and delivery of community activity including repair workshops, swap shops and road shows, to provide repair services and reuse activity aimed at raising awareness and facilitating behavioural change. The successful candidate will be a qualified Electrician with a passion for repairing small electrical household goods. They will be an excellent communicator, enjoy working with the public and be able to enthuse and encourage people to repair, reuse and repurpose their electrical items.

This role is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure endorsed by the Disclosure and Barring Service

A bit about you

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual who is passionate about working with communities and recycling. You will be an experienced and qualified electrician with an ability to fix small household electrical items. We want someone like you who has strong organisational skills and is a great communicator who thrives with people. Having the ability to work independently and with a commitment to partnership working is essential as well as having the ability to encourage behavioural change. Your role will require you to be creative and energetic with a focus on delivering high quality engagement and outputs.
