The WEEE project sits within a wider programme of waste awareness and recycling initiatives delivered by Groundwork and the South Tyne and Wear Waste Management Partnership.

About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a WEEE Project Lead. Working in partnership with the South Tyne and Wear Waste Management Partnership (STWWMP), as a member of Groundwork’s Land and Communities Team, the post holder will engage with the communities of Gateshead, Sunderland and South Tyneside to encourage the reduction, repair and re-use of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) and batteries. Operating alongside an experienced electrician, the postholder will develop and deliver a partnership led programme of community activity including repair workshops, swap shops, amnesty events and road shows, to instigate repair and reuse activity aimed at raising awareness and facilitating behavioural change in the three local authority areas.

This role is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure endorsed by the Disclosure and Barring Service

A bit about you

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual who is passionate about working with communities and recycling. We want someone like you who has strong organisational skills and is an experienced project manager. You will be a confident communicator and presenter, at ease in a variety of settings. Strong negotiation skills with an ability to encourage behavioural change is essential as well as the ability to work independently and with a commitment to partnership working. Your role will require you to be creative and energetic with a focus on delivering high quality engagement and outputs.
