Happy New Year one and all! Looking for a new challenge in 2019?
We are diving into 2019 here at Groundwork UK by kicking off recruitment for our Youth Advisory Board!
In 2018, our Groundwork Youth initiative sprung into action supporting young people aged 16-24 years old to take lead vibrant campaigns in their local communities – led by our trailblazing Youth Advisory Board.
We had an action-packed year, holding our first national Youth Summit, which brought our Youth Network together, developing our summer campaign – #InclusiveSpaces – and planning 55 campaign events to celebrate parks and open green spaces.
2019 will see us ramp up our campaign activities and grow our Youth Network, empowering more young people from different backgrounds to have say on environmental issues that matter them and to take an active role improving their local environment. We will be taking part in the UK ‘Year of Green Action’ and #iwill campaign, encouraging young people to get into environmental volunteering.
With the help of our Youth Network, we are now ready to recruit a new Youth Advisory Board, made up of 20 young people aged 16-24 years old, keen to shape a series of campaigns and our youth programmes. Whether you are in school, college, employment, or currently looking for your next challenge, we want to hear from you!
Wondering if Groundwork Youth is for you?
See what our Youth Advisory Board had to say about their experience:
"I achieved personal goals in building confidence and leadership skills. I will definitely continue volunteering. I would love to set up my own project in the future and I feel I have the knowledge and experience now to do so. Organising my own event required me to take the imitative, manage my time better and use project management skills. I have also worked on my leadership through coordinating people effectively and it allowed me to reflect on my collaborative leadership style. "
- Katie, Youth Advisory Board Member
