Kickstarting Careers
Groundwork North East & Yorkshire are aiming to support 1000 young people aged 16 to 24 who are currently claiming Universal Credit to access the Kickstart scheme by working with external organisations as well as internal Groundwork teams.
We have so far supported in filling roles within Administration, Outdoor Environmental Services, Youth Work, Trainee Scaffolder, Production Operative, Marketing and Business Development and we have many others still available.
Whilst the young people are in their Kickstart placement they will be provided with a designated Engagement Officer who will support them to develop their skills, training and employability level to ensure that on completion they will move into sustained employment or training.
The Groundwork North East & Cumbria Kickstart team are dedicated to ensuring that young people benefit from this scheme and that local employers are able to build their workforce with passionate and dedicated new staff who are looking to begin their careers.
Isabelle, one of the young people who has just started said, “I am really interested in getting involved in education and opportunities for youth in the area both inside and outside of the classroom before I go on to do my teacher training. Kickstart helped me find a role as a Trainee Youth Worker, helping young people in the area get any support they may need to find employment in their chosen area of interest. My first day in the role was great, the team were really welcoming and friendly and I look forward to getting to grips with the job.”
