Community environment groups across the city region are set to benefit from a £500,000 Fund recently launched by Steve Rotheram, Metro Mayor of the Liverpool City Region.

The Community Environment Fund aims to:

  • Improve the environment in the Liverpool City Region (LCR).
  • Encourage long-term behavioural change.
  • Promote community engagement and participation in environmental projects.

Mr Rotheram said:

The Community Environment Fund will help local groups to improve their environment at a local level. We all have our part to play – from individuals to multinational businesses – in tackling the climate crisis. Only by us all working together will we defeat climate change.

The fund will support a wide range of projects covering the following themes:

  • Climate change and resilience
  • Air quality and transport
  • Water
  • Accessible green spaces, habitats and biodiversity
  • Waste and resources
  • Health and wellbeing
  • Carbon and environment literacy
