Project type: upcycling, training
"The project really helped me develop new skills and build a portfolio of work that I used at job interviews. I learnt a lot and making furniture in the workshop was really fun." - Dan, Project Up trainee
Project UP upcycles unloved furniture and provides young people with skills and experience to help them into employment.
During their time on the project 17 - 18 year olds gain capentry and renovation experience by transforming waste into desirable items.
The products are created using discarded materials - like shipping pallets or abandoned furniture - from vacant properties that would otherwise have ended up in landfil.
The project has been so successful, they've now opened a shop in Widnes, providing low cost furniture to local people.
